The Saudi journalist Rosanna Alyamami, who was sentenced to 60 lashes after she was convicted of dealing with a television network which is not officially licensed by the Saudi authorities (LBC), announced that she received a pardon granted by the King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and that she will not be lashed, adding that she will never deal again with the LBC channel.
Rosanna said in a statement on Monday, that she received the royal pardon through the Saudi Media Minister Abdel-Aziz Khoja where she thanked God for his Grace.
Rosanna stated that the amnesty is a response against every person who questioned her patriotism and it is a victory for her country, her family and her religion.
Adding: “I will not deal again with the (LBC) channel since it offended my religious beliefs and abused me”.
A source at the Saudi Media Ministry confirmed in a statement on Monday that the Saudi king issued a decision to close down the case of Rosanna Alyamami and the second journalist Iman Al Ragab, and to transform their case to the Saudi Ministry of Education and Media.
Rosanna said that the Saudi justice dropped the charges of coordinating and organizing segments and topics for the program Ahmar Bil Khat Al Arid, which was broadcasted on a channel(LBC) which is not officially licensed by the Saudi authorities.
