After the widespread phenomenon, in the 90's, of the Mexican soap operas featured on LBC network, Turkish soaps featured on MBC are becoming increasingly attractive. Following the immense success of "Sanawat Al Dayaa", "Noor", "La Makan La Watan", "Lahzat Wadaa", and "Alajniha Al Mounkasira"; MBC4 will soon air a new Turkish series "Al Helm al Da'eh" beginning December 20th.
The new social melodrama depicts the humanitarian concerns of a Turkish man (Omar) whose home was hit by an earthquake resulting in the death of his parents. Omar is tortured by guilt and blames himself for canceling the family trip supposedly to take place the night of the earthquake. He decides to relocate to Istanbul for a fresh start and tries to overcome his depression. He faces however a series of downturns notably when he falls in love and tries to fit in his new environment.
The series weaves dramatic events and unveils unexpected answers and disclosures related to his family. It also displays the conflict between his guilt and the desire to protect others.
Similarities between Turkish and Arab customs, cities and cultural sensitivities are making Arabic-dubbed Turkish drama increasingly attractive. The Turkish entertainment industry is booming and interest is still growing. Viewers are admiring the actors, the romances and the social issues depicted in these series.
