Bab El Hara is Syrian television series that was broadcasted in its first season in 2006. The show is directed by Bassam El Mulla and written by Marwan Kaook and Kamal Moura. The story starts out in the early 1920s when the jewels of Abou Ibrahim, a known tissue merchant, were stolen as French spies entered the neighborhood of Al Dabaa.
Bab El Hara focuses on the typical Syrian life during the French occupation as well as the old virtuous values and traditions. The stories are also true according to the writer Mawan Kaook.
