The 8th annual Dubai International Film Festival concluded yesterday with a huge award ceremony after 8 days of screening 171 movies from 56 different countries.
The city of Dubai was under the spotlight; especially that it hosted thefirst screening of Tom Cruise’s movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
The biggest Arab winners in the festival were:
“Marcedes” (by Hady Zaccak-Lebanon) won Best Documentary in the competition for the “Prize of the International Critics” for Arab films.
And in the Muhr Arab competition:
-In the Muhr Arab Shorts, the movies “Zafir” (by Omar El Zoheiry-Egypt) and “Makan Youaad” (by Wajdi Elian-Lebanon) won Special Mention, while the Second Prize went to “Ard Al Abtal” (by Sahim Omar Khalifa-Iraq)
-In the Muhr Arab Documentary, the First Prize went to “Sector Zero” (by Nadim Mishlawi – Lebanon
-In the Muhr Arab Feautre, the Jordanian movie “Al Jomaa Al akhira” (Yehya Abdallah-Jordan) won big and took home Best Composer (Le Trio Jubran), Best Actor (Ali Sleiman) and Special Jury Prize.
